Burgundy, towards the north east of France is a region famed for not only its
fabulous wines but for the richness of its cuisine. Chablis is its most
famous wine and beef bourguignon one of its better known gastronomic
delights. Historically, Burgundy was a place of tremendous wealth and power
and one of the great European centres of art, learning and science. Now it
is an agricultural department with many vineyards. Despite being a well
linked region, the property here represents good value for money. The regional
capital is Dijon, which is known for the mustard it produces. Many of the
roofs here are tiled with colourful glazed tiles in intricate patterns.
The climate is typical of inland France - warm summers and cold icy winters.
